Remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) tools used for vehicles tracking and locking to enhance security based on GSM and GPS techniques in Asaba, Delta state, Nigeria. The objectives include examining Car theft in Asaba and adducing reasons responsible, appraise awareness and importance of these tools in Car theft routing, mapping and management; ascertain the effects of Car theft crime on the economy of Nigeria and proffer solutions on the problems of high Car theft crime rate in Nigeria. The Nigerian police can hardly locate stolen vehicles within area of jurisdiction or could define en-route station to areas of specific vehicles theft crime position. Thus, the police are far from being well informed according to geographic spread of related crime incidences. Vehicles theft occurs where they are parked and sometimes snatched when driving in insecure places. The safety of vehicles are extremely essential using tracking and locking devices installed to trace routes and track the places and as well lock the engines and the door system. The method requires maps (topo, and possibly crime) of Asaba. This is highly secured, reliable and cost effective. Thus, vehicles crime theft incident areas are mapped, identified and detected with sensors and other tracking gadgets of crime routes to track vehicle points on the base maps generated for locking.
