MANAGEMENT ABILITY AND RESTAURANT SUCCESS (A STUDY OF FAST FOOD INDUSTRY IN ASABA TOWN)

The paper was aimed at assessing the impact of management ability in operating a successful Fast Food Industry using selected fast food restaurants in Delta State. Improving the nutritional value, menu, service quality of fast food along with management experience can attract more customers to fast food and help in developing a trust that fast food can be a clear alternative to homemade meals. Survey research design method was employed. A total of 220 employees of selected restaurants were sampled. Straub’s (1989) process of validating instruments in management research was employed in terms of convergent validity and discriminate validity Linear regression analysis was employed for the analytical purpose to review the nature of statistical significance among variables. The findings show that there is a significant positive relationship between Service Quality, Menu, and Managerial experience on the performance of fast food industry in Asaba Delta State, with Managerial experience emerging the highest predictor. In conclusion, Managerial experience and ability to provide quality services and menu to the delight of customers is one of the most important competitive survival tools for fast food restaurants because meeting customer’s needs and expectation helps in retaining loyal customer- who provide repeat business, higher market shares, referrals, and competitive advantages for the organization.
