Herbal medicine practice in Nigeria is currently attracting serious attention from the scientific and industrial community. The World Health Organization supports the use of herbal medicine provid- ed they are proven to be efficacious and safe. This review attempts to discuss in detail the compo- nents of herbal medicines, pros and cons, drug-drug interactions and its role in the primary health care system.
